Lydia’s Link (named after Lydia in the Acts of the Apostles) is a fellowship and friendship group for women of The Avenue Church. Started in November 2010, it was deliberately set up to meet approximately once a month, with no fixed time, day, place or style of meeting, so that women with competing demands on their time would still have a chance to meet with each other.
Over 30 ladies have attended on different occasions with food and tea/coffee a significant part of most of our get-togethers! Activities to date have included several very enjoyable visits to the café at Hannah’s at Seale Hayne, a very pleasant evening at the Pizza Café, a walk among bluebells on Dartmoor followed by afternoon tea in Bovey Tracey, and on another occasion a member transformed her living room into a mini cinema for a showing of “Mrs. Henderson Presents”. We have also had a BBQ and meetings in the Lounge at The Avenue when again there was coffee, cake and chat with optional card making. The cards have been sent to members of the church who were unwell.
More events of a similar vein have been planned for the future so that we can get to know and care more for each other and the beautiful area in which we live.
