The Women’s Monday Club has a registered membership of about 80 ladies with a regular attendance of about 55 ladies.
We meet on alternate Monday evenings at 7.30 pm. There are also occassional ’open’ meetings. As well as enjoying a varied programme of activities, we are active in the fund raising events of the Church and contribute significantly to other charities. If you wish to know more please contact Dulcie Purchase Secretary of the Monday Club.
Last year we had speakers from the following organisations.
Dame Hannah Rogers Trust who have taken over the redundant buildings at Seale Hayne College. Dame Hannah’s want to concentrate on the older students and plan to have workshops so that there will be training and later employment.
Street Pastors was another very interesting evening, telling us how all the volunteers are trained. It takes many months, and they all have ‘prayer partners’.
Malcolm Benton came one evening and told us about his time in America. It was delivered in Malcolm’s style, both amusing and serious in parts.
The three talks were “Open” evenings when we asked the men to join us, therefore on each evening we had a good meeting. Other “Open Evenings” were Easter Meditation, Beetle Drive, Garden Visit and Moorland Walk.
Once a year we have a trip to the Alexandra Theatre to see the latest show of the Newton Abbot and District Musical Comedy Society.
Other meetings during the year are Holy Communion, Christmas Celebrations, Handicraft, Women’s Health, Alpacas, Bumble Bees, and Talking Shop by a retired shop owner.
