Shaldon Road is one of three Methodist Churches in Newton Abbot.  It was built 35 years ago and is situated off the main road between Newton Abbot and Shaldon.  The car park is accessed via Moorland View / Moorland Close.  We have a multi-purpose building, with a large hall and sanctuary, small rooms and a kitchen, which can be used for various activities.

Our priority is to present Jesus Christ as our loving Saviour and we warmly invite you to join us for worship and fellowship in our friendly church.  Our Sunday service is weekly at 10.30 am, and is often led by our minister, Rev. Denys Bament.  We also enjoy local preachers leading our worship and look forward to meeting new preachers in the months ahead.

Recently we have welcomed Jo Simpson as our Families and Children’s Worker, to work with us and The Avenue Church.  Jo has great enthusiasm and is gradually building up new contacts in our community.  She visits our Parents and Toddlers group twice each week to lead craft and singing sessions and get to know families.  She is hoping to work more closely with our Junior Church in the Autumn, when we have plans for “Messy Church” and possibly an evening “Urban Saints” group for young children and their families.  These are new opportunities for us to reach out into our community and we continue to pray about this work.

On Monday mornings we meet for “Coffee and Chat” – a good time to catch up on news and events.  There are opportunities for Bible Study in a housegroup and also at an afternoon session held in the church.

We enjoy fund raising events which are supported by our community and circuit friends.  These vary from meals, quizzes, coffee mornings, beetle drives, concerts, etc.  We try to arrange one each month.  They are all good times of sharing and fellowship, and we encourage all possibilities of reaching out and working with our community.  Our minister is keen to promote pastoral visiting within our community and hopes to build new links through this ministry.  Our premises are available for hire and Sure Start use our hall weekly for a messy play session.

We actively support Christians Together in Newton Abbot and District, where we meet and work with friends from other denominations.
